MEMBERSHIP: Open to all students. Leaders are chosen each year by the moderator(s) and the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice. Leaders must apply for a leadership position.
GOALS: To work closely with the Department of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice to promote a culture of belonging within the school community by hosting courageous conversations, learning activities and volunteer opportunities.
The Diversity Club is an ‘umbrella’ group that works collaboratively with all DEIJ affinity clubs, alliance clubs and interns. It promotes awareness and understanding of all marginalized communities and is therefore inclusive of issues impacting any social identity - race, class, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, etc.
MEETINGS: Every other D day in Room 20
MEETING TOPICS & ACTIVITIES: The club will promote education and awareness through activities such as (topics and activities may vary annually):
- EXPLORE: VR Tour of Anne Frank’s House
- CREATE & EXCHANGE: Christmas Tree ornaments that reflect your racial and/or ethnic heritage
- DISCUSS: Current events that are impacting marginalized communities and what you can do
- VOLUNTEER: Collect and organize period produces for individuals experiencing homelessness and migrants at the US border
